What this costs: You pay OpenAI directly for usage. Most people spend $5-15/month. You can set a spending limit so there are no surprises.
Create a free OpenAI account
Go to platform.openai.com and sign up (or log in if you have one).
Add a payment method
Go to Settings > Billing > Add payment method. This is how OpenAI charges for AI usage (separate from your OCP bill).
Set a spending limit (recommended)
In Billing > Usage limits, set a monthly cap. We suggest $20 to start.
Create your API key
Go to API Keys page > "Create new secret key" > copy the key.

Why Anthropic matters: Claude Opus 4.6 is the best model for complex reasoning, long conversations, and high-quality output. OpenAI handles the quick stuff; Anthropic handles the thinking.
Create a free Anthropic account
Go to console.anthropic.com and sign up.
Add a payment method
Go to Settings > Plans and add your card. Anthropic charges based on usage (separate from OCP).
Create your API key
Click "API Keys" in the sidebar > "Create Key" > copy the key (starts with sk-ant-).

Create a Telegram bot so you can chat with your AI from your phone or computer. Free to use, takes about 60 seconds.
Telegram is a free messaging app (like WhatsApp or iMessage). You need it installed before creating your bot.

Open BotFather
@BotFather is Telegram's official tool for creating bots. Tap this link to open it, or search "BotFather" in Telegram.
Create your bot
Type /newbot and send it. BotFather will ask two things:
First, a display name (what people see, like "My AI Assistant").
Then a username ending in "bot" (like "MyAIBot" or "JohnsHelperBot").
Copy the access code
BotFather will send a long code that looks like 1234567890:ABCdefGhI...
Tap and hold the code to copy it, then come back here and paste it below.
